The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico issues a favorable opinion on the administrative and internal controls of the Puerto Rico Ports Authority. The Report notes no findings since we determined that the Authority took the corrective actions pertinent to the situations our auditors presented to the entity.
The Authority was established by Act 125 of May 7, 1942 with the purpose of developing, improving, owning, and managing any type of transportation facility for air and maritime services, among others. The resources come primarily from federal and state contributions and from the income of the Aviation and Maritime bureaus. For the fiscal years from 2012 to 2015, it generated $632 million in income and incurred $581 in expenses for net assets of $51 million.
The Report covers the period from July 1, 2012 to December 31, 2016.
