The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico issues a favorable opinion on the fiscal operations related to purchases, accounts payable and disbursements; and the motor vehicles of the Ponce Regional Office. Based on the work performed, our auditors did not identify significant deficiencies.
The Report publishes a Special Comment on the 451 construction and permanent improvement projects of the state roads at a cost of $85 million that had not been able to be carried out. The Regional Director had identified the projects necessary to improve the safety and conditions of the state roads in the 10 municipalities that make up the Office but, as of October 6, 2016, had not received the funds from the DTOP. This situation, in addition to increasing the risk of accidents for those who travel the roads, hampers the economic development of the region.
