The Comptroller of Puerto Rico issued a favorable opinion on compliance with the provisions of several articles of the Act to regulate the profession of Physician Assistants of Puerto Rico and the Act of Incentives for the Retention and Return of Qualified Physicians.
The specific-scope compliance audit indicates that the tests performed and the evidence in the Comptroller's possession revealed that the operations of the Board covered by the Report were carried out in accordance with the applicable law and regulations.
The Board was created by provision of Act 139-2008 and is part of the Office of Regulation and Certification of Health Professionals. The Board governs the admission to the practice of medicine in Puerto Rico.
For fiscal years 2018 to 2019, the Board collected $6.1 million for the bar examination, issuance and recertification of licenses, among other services. Its expenses amounted to $3.5 million.
The Report, the second and last of the Medical Licensing and Discipline Board, covers the period from June 1, 2017 to May 29, 2019.
