The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico issued a favorable opinion on the fiscal operations of the Mayagüez Judicial Region of the General Court of Justice. The tests performed and the evidence held by the Office of the Comptroller revealed that the collections and disbursements of the accounts of the Clerk's Office and the Marshal's Office, as well as the management of the savings accounts of minors or incapacitated persons, were carried out in accordance with the applicable regulations and procedures.
The Mayagüez Judicial Region was instituted by the Administrative Order of October 9, 1981, and constitutes one of the 13 regions established by Act 201-2003, of the Judiciary of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The Region is composed of the courts of first instance of Añasco, Cabo Rojo, Hormigueros, Lajas, Las Marías, Maricao, Mayagüez, Sabana Grande, and San Germán.
For fiscal years 2016 through 2020, the estimated budget distribution for the Mayagüez Judicial Region was $92,036,233. For the same period, the regional clerk and marshal made collections of $38,667,524 and disbursements of $40,517,708, for a balance of ($1,850,184).
