The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico issued a favorable opinion on the fiscal operations of the Office of the Citizen's Ombudsman (OPC). The tests performed and the evidence in the Office of the Comptroller's possession revealed that the processes for acquiring electronic equipment and their disbursement vouchers were carried out in accordance with the 2011 Procurement Regulation.
The OPC was created by Act No. 134 of June 30, 1977, the Citizen's Ombudsman Act, as amended. The OPC, attached to the Legislative Branch, was established so that the people have a governmental body through which they can channel their constitutional right to request redress of grievances. From 2018 to 2022, the OPC has received budget appropriations of $17,035,225, and has made disbursements of $12,104,179, for a balance of $4,931,046.
