The Comptroller of Puerto Rico issues a favorable opinion of the fiscal operations of the Mayagüez – Las Marías Local Workforce Development Area.
The tests performed revealed that the operations were carried out in accordance with the applicable law and regulation in the processes of selection, awarding, and administration of the proposals related to intensive training services and other activities, for youth, adults, and dislocated workers. The audit also examined the purchasing operations and the disbursements in the acquisition of equipment and materials.
The ALDL was created in 1993 as the Mayagüez-Las Marías Consortium. In 2012 it changed its name to Mayagüez – Las Marías Local Workforce Development Area. The ALDL is an area in which services are provided with WIOA funds (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 1914) with the purpose of developing the talent of the workforce to support the economic development of Puerto Rico. Its budget in 2017 amounted to $2.1 million.
