The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico issues a favorable opinion on the fiscal operations of the Municipality of Comerío. The examination carried out in the areas of collections, transfers of funds from bank accounts and of budgetary items, as well as the awarding, contracting, and payments of public works, were carried out in all significant aspects in accordance with the applicable law and regulations.
The Report comments that, as of November 2, 2017, the Municipality had two lawsuits of $505,000 for damages, one of $530,000 for unjustified dismissal, and a $5,000 fine imposed by the Environmental Quality Board. In addition, two lawsuits for declaratory judgments and one lawsuit filed at the Public Service Appellate Commission were pending resolution.
Comerío's budget for fiscal years 2014 to 2017 was approximately $10 million for each year. The financial statements corresponding to fiscal years 2013-14 to 2015-16 reflected surpluses of $1,784,963, $2,116,459, and $1,940,699, respectively.
