The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico issued a favorable opinion on the fiscal operations of the Municipality of Juana Díaz related to the purchases and disbursements in the acquisition of equipment, materials, supplies, and others. The Report also indicates that the operations related to the payments of debts to governmental entities were carried out in accordance with the applicable law and regulations.
The audit includes a special comment on the civil lawsuits pending resolution. As of October 5, 2018, the Municipality had nine lawsuits for damages in the courts for $1.2 million. In addition, it had six cases filed by employees before the Public Service Appeals Commission and one case before the Investigation, Proceedings and Appeals Commission.
The Report, second and final for Juana Díaz, covers the period from January 1, 2015 to June 30, 2018.
