Comptroller issues favorable opinion in report on the fiscal operations of the Citizen's Ombudsman
The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico (OCPR) issued a favorable opinion on the fiscal operations related to the purchases and disbursements of the Office of the Citizen's Ombudsman. The tests performed and the evidence of this specific-scope audit revealed that the operations of the Office of the Citizen's Ombudsman were carried out, in all significant aspects, in accordance with the applicable law and regulation. A specific-scope audit addresses one or two particular matters.
The auditors evaluated as specific objectives whether the requisitions and purchase orders were prepared before acquiring the goods and services, whether they were received in accordance with what was established in the purchase order, and whether the disbursements were made in accordance with the applicable regulation, among others.
“Based on the work performed, we did not identify significant deficiencies related to internal controls that warrant comment,” reads the OCPR report.
The budget assigned to the Office of the Citizen's Ombudsman for fiscal years 2024 and 2025 rose to $7.5 million, and for the same period it had made disbursements for $5.6 million (figures through December 2024).
The audit covers the period from July 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024.
