The Comptroller of Puerto Rico issued a qualified opinion on the operations of the Technology and Information Systems Area of the Industrial Commission of Puerto Rico (Commission). A qualified opinion is issued when noncompliance, individually or in the aggregate, is significant but not pervasive.
The Report reveals that the Commission did not send the information backups to a location outside the entity's premises. Although the Commission had a contract with an external company for that purpose, as of October 2, 2020, the information backups were not being replicated to the equipment located at the external company.
This situation, contrary to the current regulations, may cause that, in cases of emergency, the Commission cannot have available the information backups necessary for the continuity of its operations. The Report covers the period from August 20, 2019 to October 2, 2020..
