The activity brought together over 300 experts in forensic auditing, digital security and financial analysis to strengthen the government oversight processes in Puerto Rico.

San Juan, Puerto Rico – In light of the increase in cyber threats, fraud schemes and new financial challenges within government operations, the Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico (OCPR) recently held a specialized training session that brought together more than 300 of the agency's auditors. The Technical Audit Meeting had the purpose of strengthening the tools and capabilities of the personnel responsible for overseeing the use of public funds, through conferences and panels focused on forensic auditing, evidence handling, digital security, financial analysis and strategic supervision. The Comptroller of Puerto Rico stressed that “…the evolution of technological and financial risks demands continuous preparation and increasingly specialized oversight. The challenges that public institutions face continue to change and evolve. Today more than ever we need auditors who are prepared, up to date and equipped with the tools necessary to identify risks, strengthen controls and protect the public resources of Puerto Rico. Modern oversight requires knowledge, preparation and commitment,” expressed CPA and Attorney Carmen Vega Fournier.

During the activity, specialized resources from the public and private sectors participated, addressing topics related to:
• Cyber risk and protection of digital systems
• Forensic auditing and evidence collection
• Financial tools to identify irregularities
• Effective supervision and leadership in auditing
• Legal and interagency collaboration in investigations
• Wellness strategies and workplace stress management

The meeting was part of OCPR's efforts to continue strengthening its internal processes, modernize government oversight and keep its technical team prepared for the new challenges that public agencies face. “With initiatives like this, the Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico reaffirms its commitment to transparency, security, accountability and the responsible protection of public resources,” the Comptroller, Vega Fournier, concluded.
