San Juan—The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico joined today a multistate effort to create a uniform model for auditing the quality of the reported and monitored Covid-19 data. This collaborative project, driven by the Delaware State Auditor, Kathy McGuiness, has the assistance of the National Association of State Auditors.
“We are pleased to participate in this valuable instrument that will serve, among other purposes, for the oversight of the funds related to the Coronavirus pandemic,” stated the Comptroller of Puerto Rico, Yesmín M. Valdivieso. In turn, the Comptroller expressed the usefulness of this model of questions and analysis, and her interest in collaborating with the other jurisdictions.
As a result of the challenges posed by the pandemic, the Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico has been preparing to respond to the new audit scenarios. To that end, several officials have met with the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers (NASACT) to establish strategies on the oversight of the assigned funds.
States such as Florida, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Tennessee, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico have joined Delaware's initiative.
