(San Juan, PR) – The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico will visit the residents of 868 homes on the Island, as part of an audit of the R3 Program of the Department of Housing. During the visits, the resident will be interviewed and the changes and repairs to the homes will be documented.

This program has $3,415 million dollars from the funds of the Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR), of which $990 million have been disbursed, to rebuild, repair, or relocate homes on the island.

“Our audit standards require us to conduct interviews, examinations, and analyses, to obtain sufficient evidence in accordance with the objectives, that provide a reasonable basis for issuing our opinion and publishing the findings,” expressed the Comptroller of Puerto Rico, Yesmín M Valdivieso. “The tests we will conduct, as part of the regular audit process, will consist of examining the investment and the work that was carried out in the residences,” added Valdivieso.

The Office of the Comptroller will contact the selected residents from a sample by telephone, email, or letter to coordinate the visit. The auditor, who will conduct the coordinated visit, will be identified at all times. In no way will the personnel request personal information or money.

“As soon as this process required by the audit standards is concluded, we will proceed to publish the findings in compliance with the Annual Audit Plan and the mission of the Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico,” indicated Valdivieso.
