San Juan – The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico reached a score of 100 in the index of information availability to citizens. This achievement reflects an optimal level of compliance with the standards of information and accountability, according to the Latin American and Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS).
“I thank all the personnel who have made a great effort to reach the optimal level in the criteria of accessibility, ease of reading, perceptibility, and timeliness of the information we publish on our web portal. For the Office of the Comptroller it is essential to achieve the greatest possible informational transparency as part of our oversight mission,” indicated the Comptroller of Puerto Rico, Yesmín M. Valdivieso.
The Office has advanced from having obtained 45 points in the 2017 measurement to 100 points in 2023. The evaluation carried out by the Acción Ciudadana Colombia Corporation (AC-Colombia), in agreement with OLACEFS, published that other Comptroller's Offices in Latin America such as Argentina, Brazil, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, and the Dominican Republic also reached the ranking of 100 points of compliance.
This classification also indicates that the highest score in the availability of information to the public was obtained in the following categories: institutional framework, organizational structure, plans, budget, and oversight, among others.
“The coordination of projects with OLACEFS is part of our commitment to implement the best practices of access to information and accountability. At the Office of the Comptroller, we will continue on the path of excellence and we continuously strive to always do our best,” expressed Comptroller Valdivieso.
