70th anniversary
With greater drive, the Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico
San Juan – The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico celebrates its 70th anniversary since its creation by the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in its Article III and Act 9 of July 24, 1952.
“This anniversary represents a point of arrival in the committed fulfillment of the constitutional mission”, expressed the Comptroller, Yesmín M. Valdivieso. At the same time, she emphasized that 70 years represent “an intense and committed effort by many generations of officials who have contributed to the exercise of oversight and to providing experiences and knowledge to improve public administration”.
Valdivieso assured that the Office of the Comptroller will continue with greater drive the implementation of strategies to make prevention initiatives more efficient, digitize processes and carry out advanced investigations. The findings and recommendations of its reports, investigations and corrective action plans influence the improvement of transparency, controls, as well as compliance with the law and regulations in the entities.
From the perspective of time, “our greatest pride has been the satisfaction of serving with integrity, and with the highest ethical standards, the mission of overseeing the transactions of public property and funds. With the honor of duty fulfilled, we are certain that we are doing great good for Puerto Rico,” noted the Comptroller.
The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico has the ministerial function of examining all the revenues, accounts and disbursements of the State, of its agencies, bodies and of the municipalities, to determine whether they have been carried out in accordance with the law.
