The Comptroller of Puerto Rico, Yesmín M. Yaldivieso, signed a cooperation agreement in the areas of technical advisory and training with the Comptroller General of Accounts of the Republic of Guatemala, Dr. Edwin Humberto Salazar Jerez, and another agreement with the President of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of El Salvador, Attorney Roberto Antonio Anzora Quiroz. 

“Both agreements aim to promote technical cooperation relations with the purpose of analyzing matters relating to superior oversight and audits”, noted Comptroller Yesmín M. Valdivieso. The Office of the Comptroller, together with the signing entities of Guatemala and El Salvador, “commit to strengthening the development of external control activities, through projects and programs of study, training and technical exchange”, stated the Comptroller. 

In this regard, the Comptroller General of Accounts of the Republic of Guatemala, Dr. Salazar Jerez, indicated that “it is important to exchange experiences with other Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) in order to strengthen controls and prevent corruption.”

On the other hand, the President of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of El Salvador, Attorney Anzora Quiroz, said “it is of transcendental importance that the SAIs strengthen our bonds of cooperation and that they allow us to bolster the technical competencies to carry out a more timely and effective oversight regarding the adequate use of resources.”

The agreement with the Comptroller General of Accounts of the Republic of Guatemala has a term of five years; while the agreement with the Court of Accounts of the Republic of El Salvador has a term of three years. Both agreements, signed today in San Juan, will be available at www.ocpr.gov.pr.
