Audit Institutions of Central America and the Caribbean
hold Assembly in Puerto Rico
San Juan, P.R. – From June 21 to 23, the XLI Ordinary General Assembly of the Central American and Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (OCCEFS) is being held in Puerto Rico, where the Comptrollers of Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico will participate.
During the Assembly, the members of the OCCEFS will approve, among other things, the proposed Strategic Development Plan 2017 to 2022 under the focus of commitment to transparency and communication. This, in keeping with the motto that distinguishes the OCCEFS: “Integration, transparency and development for the region.”
“The Plan will strengthen internal processes, financial autonomy, good governance and cooperation among peers and interest groups,” indicated the Comptroller of Puerto Rico, Yesmín M. Valdivieso.
The management of communication within the organizations seeks to achieve a productive exchange, as well as technical assistance among the SAIs. In addition, during the Assembly each Country will review its most emblematic cases in the detection of fraud, which will help in the reflection and dialogue related to new ways of working.
During the Assembly, the Annual Operating Plan will also be approved and the new Presidency will be chosen. Currently, the OCCEFS is presided over by the President of the Chamber of Accounts of the Dominican Republic, Hugo Francisco Álvarez Pérez. The current Secretariat is the Representative of the Superior Court of Accounts of the Republic of Honduras, José Juan Pineda Varela.
