Office of the Comptroller study validates the Judicial Branch of Puerto Rico as having no court lawsuits
The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico (OCPR) published a study on the adverse effects of dismissals, disciplinary actions, or other personnel transactions on the Government's finances. In particular, those lawsuits, complaints, judgments, and payments motivated by workplace harassment and sexual harassment against employees or officials, and by political-partisan discrimination in the Judicial Branch, were analyzed.
The Study reveals that no court lawsuits against the Judicial Branch were identified for the period analyzed, from January 1, 2018, to June 30, 2023.
The organizational structure of the General Court of Justice is formed by the judicial and the administrative spheres. The judicial sphere is composed of the Supreme Court as the court of last resort, the Court of Appeals as the intermediate court, and the courts of first instance. The administrative sphere is the responsibility of the Office of Courts Administration.
