The article "The private sector aspires to prevent corruption in government" by Rut N. Tellado, published on August 15, states: "Ismael Falcón, president of Alumni FAE, suggested reformulating the Office of the Comptroller so that it shifts its focus to preventing government corruption, instead of limiting itself to its current work of conducting audits that uncover irregularities years after they occurred."

The Office of the Comptroller has not spared time, effort and budget on preventive education for public officials. The trainings fulfill the essential function of achieving sound public administration and a better government for Puerto Rico.

Since 2010 we have offered 330 sessions to 24,549 officials in order to comply with Act 190-2006 and Act 78-2011. Both require orientation for officials who join the government. We have also delivered 430 orientation sessions to 19,217 participants from municipalities and agencies, on procurement, contracting, property control and the administration of government resources, among others; all focused on avoiding findings and improving the administration of the people's resources.

In addition, our website, www.ocpr.gov.pr brings together a wealth of orientation and prevention information that is freely accessible.

It is evident that the Office does not "limit itself... to conducting audits," but rather, in addition to oversight, we promote the effective, economical, efficient and ethical use of Government resources for the benefit of our people.
