The Comptroller Yesmín M. Valdivieso reported today -Monday- that the Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico (OCPR) established a Special Investigations Division (DIE) aimed at inquiring into possible fraud schemes related to the misuse of public property and funds.
The Comptroller explained in written statements that if it is determined that the OCPR has primary jurisdiction over a complaint, the DIE will carry out the corresponding analysis to obtain, in the fastest and most effective way, the information and documentation necessary to conclude and make the recommendations.
“This Division will coordinate the collaboration with the entities that receive our referrals or other external ones, in the investigations into irregularities, fraud, and government corruption,” indicated Valdivieso.
The Division brings together the fiscal intelligence, digital forensics, investigation, and technical support groups of the OCPR.
“At the Office of the Comptroller we develop new methods and ways to fulfill the mission of overseeing, with independence and objectivity, the transactions of government entities related to public property and funds. We request the cooperation of all public officials and employees in providing the information and documents that we request in our investigations,” the Comptroller maintained.
