OCPR and the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Costa Rica sign a memorandum of understanding to conduct a peer review.

On June 25, 2019, the Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico and the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Costa Rica signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The purpose of the memorandum was to obtain the services of the Costa Rican SAI to conduct a peer review of the Office of the Comptroller's compliance auditing and information technology auditing processes. The review will provide a reasonable basis for determining whether, for the period under review, the Office of the Comptroller's quality control system was adequately designed and is being complied with, so as to provide reasonable assurance of compliance with the applicable auditing standards, which are the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), 2011 version.

From August 26 to September 6, 2019, the Costa Rican Review Group was at the Office of the Comptroller in Puerto Rico as part of the peer review process. The review group was composed of: Atty. Mari Trini Vargas Álvarez, Certified Public Accountant, Master in Public Administration with Emphasis in Public Management; Eng. Miguel Pérez Montero, IT Auditor, with 25 years of experience in oversight of the Public Treasury, of which eight are in Information Technology Auditing, certified CISA and COBIT 5 by ISACA; and Atty. Alex Monge Lemaitre, Certified Public Accountant, with experience in Peer Reviews, with 29 years of experience in oversight of the Public Treasury, certified in the ISSAI – Compliance Auditing and ISSAIIDI-PSC Facilitator.
