Office of the Comptroller and the UPRRP sign educational and internship agreement

The Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico (OCPR) and the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus (UPRRP) signed today –Tuesday– a collaborative agreement to integrate into the academic experience lectures on auditing practices, investigation and fundamental aspects of public administration.

The agreement will be in effect through June 30, 2026.

“We are pleased to establish this agreement to train Puerto Rico's future leaders on the mission of the Office of the Comptroller, and so they may be the standard-bearers of sound public administration,” said Comptroller Yesmín M. Valdivieso.

For her part, the Chancellor of the Río Piedras Campus of the University of Puerto Rico, Angélica Varela Llavona, stated that “with this collaboration, we seek for our students to acquire not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical tools to contribute to a more efficient and ethical public management, in line with the mission we share with the Office of the Comptroller.”

As part of the agreement, students will have the opportunity to gain public administration knowledge such as internal controls, auditing standards, the canons of ethics and complaint investigation, among others. In addition, the OCPR will offer a formative experience through its internship program.

They will also offer lectures for students, take part in information tables at the various deanship events, and a liaison officer will facilitate information of interest for the work carried out on campus.
